The Boathouse Inn Reopens


The refurbishment of the bandstand and renovation of the half moon pavilion in Roberts Park Saltaire will be unveiled on Saturday 22nd may 2010.

The £4.5million project has been manly funded by a £3.2million Heritage Lottery Grant. Returned to its former Victorian splendour after years of neglect. Roberts Park is back to its glory days in more ways then one.

Campaigners and locals alike are delighted with the parks restoration and look forward to years of happy use. And were sure the parks new gems will not fail to appeal to saltaires all year round visitors too.

New proposed bypass


Concerns have been raised over plans recently announced by Bradford Council and action Airedale to run a bypass through the buffer zone either side of the World Heritage Site and to tunnel beneath the village of Saltaire. 

Within sight of Saltaire Mill, the tunnel would follow the line of the railway and exit behind the United Reformed Church.  As it then would run alongside the adjacent portion of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, it is also likely to have an impact on this conservation area.

The Current route would also impact on ancient semi-natural woodland and the woodland garden of remembrance at Nab Wood Cemetery. Watch this space we will keep you informed on current events.
